Meet The Worries
They show up at different parts of the story to symbolize Abby’s anxious moments. They fill up Abby’s backpack as she drags her fears around with her. Abby wants to share the Scriptures she’s been learning to work through her worries. They can help you too! Click on the boxes below.
Lost Worry
God will show me the way.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you,” (Psalm 32:8).
Panic Worry
I can cry out to God and He hears me.
“In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From His temple he heard my voice, and my cry to Him reached His ears,” (Psalm 18:6)
Bathroom Blues Worry
God answers me and is with me in trouble.
“When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble…” (Psalm 91:15)
Separation Worry
God is with me wherever I go.
“. . . Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Failure Worry
Jesus understands when I fail and loves me anyway.
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin,” (Hebrews 4:15)
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” (Romans 5:8).
Not Ready Worry
Instead of worrying I can pray, tell God what I need, thank Him for His help, and then experience His peace.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
Getting Sick Worry
God holds my hand and helps me.
“For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” (Isaiah 41:13)
Wide-Eyed Worry
God is on my side. I don’t have to worry about what others think.
“The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6).
Afraid of the Dark Worry
Jesus is my light when I fear the dark.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Lonely Worry
God the Father comforts me in ALL my hard times.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
(2 Corinthians 1:3-5)
Sleepover Worry
I can sleep in peace when I trust in God’s care.
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety,”
(Psalm 4:8).
