How do I help my children who are nervous and anxious?
The first step is to find the source of their fear. This resource can help your children label their worries and begin to talk about them. Be an active listener and show your child you care. Draw them out with open-ended questions like, “What makes that worry so hard for you?” Ask them to tell you more. Give a loving response such as, “It must be so hard to have those worries. I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling.” You might even share some worries you have had before, to show your child that you struggle too. After you give a good hug, pray together and ask God to help your child through the hard times. “…casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you,” (1 Peter 5:7).
Remind your child that God wants to hear about his/her worries and is ready to help!
Try memorizing Isaiah 41:10 to fill your mind with God’s Truth. As Coach Courage says in my story Anxious Abby and The Camp Trust Challenge, “When you choose to think about God’s Truth, the worries will stay away
