Anxiety Resource for Children and Teens

By Alyssa Cathers M.A.

Does your child struggle with anxiety? This resource can help him/her label worries and begin to talk about them. Have your child complete the activity page below and then tell you more about his/her worries. Be an active listener and show your child you care. Give a loving response such as, “It must be so hard to have those worries. I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling.” You might even share some worries you have had before to show your child that you struggle too. After you give a good hug, pray together and ask God to help your child through the hard times. “…casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you,” (1 Peter 5:7).

Remind your child that God wants to hear about his/her worries and is ready to help!

Try memorizing Isaiah 41:10 to fill your mind with God’s Truth. As Coach Courage says in the story Anxious Abby and The Camp Trust Challenge, “If you choose to think about God’s truth the worries will stay away!”
